New manager Hayden Mullins has stated that Newport County is short of players ahead of the season. The Exiles have appointed Mullins as their new manager following the unexpected departure of Christian Fuchs. County had already signed six players, including Harrison Biggins, Christian Doidge, Cameron Norman, Dan Sassi, Shaquille Gwengwe and Yahya Bamba, and Kyle Cameron and Kieron Evans. Owner Huw Jenkins has taken the lead in recruitment since his takeover in January 2024. Mullins will have a say on transfers and who comes in. County will play their first competitive game at AFC Wimbledon on 8 August and begin their League Two campaign against Rochdale seven days later.
