The Chattanooga Lookouts team has a long history with the city, with the first team taking the field in 1885. The current team debuted in the Double-A Southern League in 1976 and has been playing for the Reds since 1988-2008. The Lookouts moved into Erlanger Park on the site of the historic Whelan Foundry, an important part of the city's industrial past. The park is part of an ambitious development project for the South Broad District, which is expected to have an economic impact of up to $2.3 billion. Erranger Park was designed to celebrate the area's industrial history and utilize some parts of original buildings. The team's logo features a pair of eyes and a mascot named Looie the Lookouts.
