Sedgwick County considering one-year moratorium on battery energy storage systems

The Sedgwick County Commission is considering a one-year moratorium on applications for battery energy storage systems, which are used to store electricity. If approved, the moratorium would expire in March 2027. This comes amidst ongoing discussions about battery storage systems in Kansas. County Commissioner Jeff Blubaugh believes this is in the county's best interest as it is possible to create regulations for large-scale renewable energy projects.
