Staten Island woman indicted in Brooklyn anti-Muslim hate crime attacks involving 12-year-old girl

A 34-year-old Staten Island woman, Megan Horney, has been indicted in connection with a series of anti-Muslim hate crime assaults in Bay Ridge, New York. The attacks targeted three people, including a 12-year old girl. The Brooklyn District Attorney's Office stated that these assaults were fueled by anti-Islamophobia and were unprovoked. Horney was arraigned in Brooklyn Supreme Court on charges including assault as a hate crime and related offenses. She was also ordered to return on May 27 and remains on supervised release. The incidents occurred within 20 minutes of each other on the afternoon of Jan. 30.
