Town Official Guilty In Shooting DoorDash Delivery Driver: DA

John Reilly III, a 49-year-old town official in Orange County, has been convicted of felony assault, second-degree assault, and eight counts of criminal possession of a firearm. He was accused of shooting a DoorDash delivery driver in the lower back, causing "devastating" injuries. The bullet was recovered from the victim's abdomen and removed over two feet of his small bowel. While Reilly held a Federal Firearms License to sell firearms, he had no state firearms license or pistol permit in New York. The DA praised the New York State Police for their investigation and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives for their work.
