President Donald Trump has criticised European allies for not supporting the U.S. in its war with Iran and indicated they may have to reopen the Strait of Hormuz on their own. This is the third time in recent days that Trump publicly indicated he could end the war without reopening the Strait. This would leave other countries to clean up a significant economic quagmire and restore the flow of roughly one-fifth of the world's oil supply. The UK and France have been less willing to cooperate, with both countries assisting Gulf states in intercepting Iranian drones and missiles. The United States and its allies are expected to join a maritime task force after the war ends.
