Indianapolis' Girls School Road, a portion of the city's west side road, is undergoing extensive improvements to be completed by 2028. The project involves replacing the pavement and creating a multi-use path for students, residents, and those seeking a safe way to get out of the street. The Indianapolis Department of Public Works estimates that part of the $279 million road construction budget will be used for improvements, which will include a 4-mile stretch leading to the Indianapolis International Airport. The majority of the road is not pedestrian-friendly, with pedestrians walking through the grass along a busy street.
