Researchers from Sweden have found that centenarians often don't have "perfect" biomarkers but stay in balanced, moderate ranges, and have resilience to the typical markers that predict disease, such as high total cholesterol and declining kidney function. These findings have led to the discovery that longevity is also influenced by diverse factors such as race, access to care, lifestyle, and long-term stability. The study also found that while some participants had balanced cholesterol levels, even extremely high or high cholesterol levels did not increase or decrease the likelihood of reaching 100. The findings suggest that longevity isn't about perfection, but about a unique ability to tolerate it. Longevity may depend on less hitting optimal numbers at a single point in time and more maintaining good physiological function across multiple systems.
