The United States Supreme Court has halted an attempt by a Manhattan judge to redraw Rep. Nicole Malliotakis' district in New York City, which could have resulted in the dissolution of her seat. The court ruled 6-3 that the boundaries of the 11th Congressional District unlawfully dilute the voting power of Black and Latino residents. Malliotaki and other election officials had asked the Supreme Court and New York's Appellate Division, First Department, to postpone the order. The ruling was written by the majority of the court, with the dissentist stating that federal courts should not interfere with state election laws ahead of an election.
