Search dogs, multiple agencies assist in Rockingham County case of human remains discovery

The Rockingham County Sheriff's Office in North Carolina has expanded its search efforts following the discovery of human remains in a wooded area off the 100 block of Millston Drive in Summerfield. Forensic specialists, trained K-9 units, and several law enforcement agencies were involved in recovering additional evidence from the wooded site. The remains were discovered at approximately 6:30 p.m. on Thursday and have reached the skeleton phase and are believed to have been in this location for an extended period of time. The cause of death has not yet been officially determined. This discovery marks the second discovery in the county within eight days.
