Microsoft plans to release alpha version developer kits of its new console, Project Helix, in 2027, suggesting a global launch in the near future for the device that can play both console and PC games. The company's VP of "next generation" Jason Ronald stated that as games increasingly span devices, Microsoft is breaking down barriers between console and desktop games. Additionally, the company's new CEO Asha Sharma highlighted its philosophy under the name of Project Heliz at the Xbox Developer Summit Keynote at Game Developer Conference 2026.
