Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has confirmed that the Pentagon will ask Congress for more money to wage war in Iran, although he believes the reported $200 billion figure "could move". The request would likely face strong opposition from Democrats and Republicans due to the unpopularity of the war and the fact that it would be in addition to the Pentagon's existing $1 trillion budget. The Pentagon is seeking more funds to accelerate production of weapons systems the U.S. and Israel have spent during the war.
