Penelope Cruz has spoken about her role in the new horror-romance The Bride, where she plays an aspiring detective named Myrna. Cruz credits the role to writer-director Maggie Gyllenhaal for allowing her to express a lot of rage. The film follows the investigation of Frank and his lover, after they were spotted assaulting two men outside a nightclub.
