The family of suspected shooter Dominic Miller, Lyndell Mays, has defended their actions in self-defense following the shooting at the Kansas City Chiefs' 2024 Super Bowl victory parade and rally. The Jackson County Prosecutor's office stated that Miller did not shoot first and that Mays was the initial aggressor. However, Mays' sister, who is listed in Mays probable cause statement, disputes this. The family has remained silent for two years but expressed their faith in the judicial process after three counts were dropped against Miller in exchange for a guilty plea to unlawful use of a weapon. Mays is also charged with causing a catastrophe. The case is still pending.
