Former Brooklyn Supreme Court judge Edward Harold King and developer Sam Sprei were indicted in a $6.5 million scam that tricked two investors out of millions of dollars tied to bankrupt property in New Jersey. The pair allegedly set up a phony escrow account in King's name and reneged on the deal when the investors tried to withdraw, pocketing nearly all the money. King was forced to resign earlier this year amid fraud claims and resigned from the bench amid multiple claims that he defrauded investors out more than $11 million. The FBI and IRS conducted a joint investigation into the scam and are currently investigating the case.
