California gubernatorial frontrunner Steve Hilton is planning to propose a plan to save Hollywood productions and jobs. The Republican candidate would propose a film tax-credit plan that could go as high as 60 percent for some productions and would never go lower than 40 percent. Currently, California's current cap is 45 percent, with many productions receiving 35 percent. Hilton does not want the overall credit capped at $750 million per year. He also plans to use this money for post-production and above-the-line costs, which are currently prohibited. The potential 60 percent credit would make productions exceptionally inexpensive and offset the effects of lower prices in other states. Hilton is expected to officially unveil his Hollywood platform on Thursday.
