The WGA West’s striking staff will be removed from their health insurance plans following a six-week standoff with Guild Leadership. This comes just days after the staff union presented a “strike-ending” proposal to management. The staff union has blamed guild leadership for this, blaming this issue on an administrative issue. The WGAW insists that it can't make contributions on behalf of staff employees who did not work in March and have no earnings. Despite this, many writers who share a health insurance fund with staff can maintain their coverage during the 2023 strike. The Guild's offer remains on the table and would end the strike if accepted by the WGSU.
