Egypt's President, Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, has warned that a closure of the Strait of Hormuz could disrupt global oil flows, increase energy prices, and strain Egypt's economy. Speaking at the Armed Forces' annual iftar, Al-Siclaimed that Egypt is closely monitoring regional developments and has taken precautionary measures to secure strategic reserves. He also stressed that Egypt has made efforts to prevent escalation by mediating between the United States and Iran, and warned that wars carry serious consequences for both countries and their neighbours.
