Chargers and backup QB Trey Lance agree to 1-year deal

The Los Angeles Chargers have signed backup quarterback Trey Lance for another season on a one-season contract reportedly worth up to $6.75 million. Lance, who was drafted by the San Francisco 49ers in the 2021 draft, played four games last season with the Chargers and started the Chargers’ regular-season finale against the Denver Broncos. Despite being expected to be their starting quarterback, Lance has not lived up to expectations and has played only 16 games in his career. He completed 54% of his passes for 1,289 yards and has been criticized for his lacklustlust.
