Executives Say Trump’s Anti‑DEI and Immigration Policies Caused 2025’s Biggest Workplace Disruptions

The first year of President Donald Trump's second term has seen significant changes in business, including new import tariffs, trade wars, and geopolitical conflicts. However, a survey by Littler's Workplace Policy Institute revealed that the government's anti-DEI and immigration policies were the most significant disruptions cited by over 300 in-house lawyers, human resources professionals and C-suite respondents. The survey also revealed that 71% of executives identified the president's actions as the biggest challenges they faced under his first year in office, with 65% identifying his tightened immigration requirements and deportation campaign as the most disruptive measures. Despite these challenges, companies reported increased workforce reductions and increased costs of health insurance coverage for workers.
