President Donald Trump is struggling to explain the start or endgame of the Iran war, despite promising to hint that peace might be imminent, despite warning that the fighting might increase and extend. The confusion over the situation reflects increasing political and military pressures within the US, with falling stock markets and rising oil prices raising the possibility of a prolonged conflict that could shatter the global economy. The president has argued that if he hadn't launched the attack on Iran, the Islamic Republic would have taken over the entire Middle East. However, there is no evidence that Iran was then at any point in its history that it would pose an existential threat to Israel and the rest of the world. Analysts believe that the war erupted due to Iran's weaker than at any time in its 50-year history, and that the US and Israeli air campaign is inflicting catastrophic damage on its war machine. The key question is whether Trump wants to end the war is to determine if its operational gains have been successfully degraded and threaten Iran's ability to reach its allies and allies in the US.
