The fatal collision occurred on University Avenue, west of Victoria Avenue, shortly before 8 a.m. Wednesday. The victim was crossing the street when a 2011 BMW sedan approached at an unconfirmed speed and was unable to stop or slow. The driver, who was uninjured, stopped to await first responders and was found unconscious and gravely injured in the street. Police determined not to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol. The westbound side of University was temporarily shut down for several hours during a preliminary investigation.
