The FIFA World Cup 2026 squads are now ranked based on performance and talent, using the World Football Elo Ratings (Elo Ratings) and estimated squad values from Transfermarkt for each country's most recent round of callups. The rankings also include the number of players playing in the tournament, as well as their overall Elo ranking. These rankings were compiled after Italy failed to qualify for a third consecutive World Cup after losing to Bosnia and Herzegovina on penalties. Qatar was ranked the worst team to ever play at a World Cup, despite being the 93rd-best team in the world according to Elo. Meanwhile, Curacao has jumped up 38 spots in the Elo ratings over the past year, while no other team in this summer's field has improved by more than 13 places. Jordan has the least-valuable squad in the 2026 tournament, with a combined value of €15.98 million, most of which comes from Rennes winger Musa Al-Taamari. If Iran finishes second in their group and the USMNT finishes second, they would face each other in the round of 32.
