Louisville native LaVelle Smith, known for his dance and choreography work with legendary artists such as Michael Jackson and Michael Jackson, has been sharing his story with his hometown for over two decades. Smith, who joined Jackson on his three major solo concert tours and was introduced as a dancer and choreographer, began his career in the late 1980s when he auditioned for a music video for Michael Jackson. Smith's transition from dancer to choreographer proved successful, earning him an MTV Video Music Award for Best Choreography for the music video "You're Never Gonna Get It" and earning him five awards throughout his career. Now living in Louisville, Smith travels the world teaching his signature moves.
