A Starlink satellite, 34343, has reportedly broken apart in space due to an "anomaly" that occurred about 560 kilometers above Earth. SpaceX confirmed that the satellite's breakup poses no threat to the International Space Station or upcoming space missions. The company is working to determine the cause of the anomaly and will implement any necessary corrective actions. This comes after SpaceX announced it was reducing the orbit of thousands of Starlink satellites to avoid orbital overcrowding and lowering their orbit to ensure they would burn up more quickly in Earth's atmosphere. The incident occurred just over a day before NASA's planned launch of Artemis II, a long-term effort to return humans to the moon.
