The Park Ridge Farmers Market has been approved to allow for limited alcohol sales at a limited time and within a limited area. The decision was made at the April 6 city council meeting. The permit was requested by Elia Café owner Taso Pyroulis, who plans to use fruit juices from local vendors. Some alderpeople were initially concerned about whether alcohol would be permitted in Cumberland Park, which is overseen by the park district, not the city. However, City Manager Joe Gilmore stated that the approval is dependent on the city's permission. The market will have signage warning patrons not to take alcoholic drinks off-site.
