Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La) is dealing with an attendance issue as lawmakers focus on the 2026 midterms, potentially complicating the passage of key measures in the coming months. 22 Republicans voted not for any bills on Tuesday, followed by seven on Wednesday and five on Thursday, while 21 Democrats did not. Major bills including housing affordability, spy powers and government funding are still looming.
