JC Tretter, the new executive director of the NFL Players Association (NFLPA), has claimed that he was "muzzled" by the NFLPA's lawyers during his first interview as executive director. This comes after it became clear that the league office had hidden from its members an arbitration ruling that the NFL's teams were invited to collude to fully-guaranteed contracts after the Deshaun Watson deal. Tretster, who was the "chief strategy officer" of the union, had been the subject of speculation regarding his role in the situation. He now claims that he said nothing after the hidden collusion ruling came to light due to the legal advice he was receiving from the league's lawyers. He also stated that he felt it had gone too far and that he needed to resign when he felt he was told he could not share his side of the story.
