FIFA President Gianni Infantino has confirmed that Iran will participate in the World Cup and will play in the United States despite ongoing tensions between the two countries. This follows representatives from Iran's soccer federation being denied entry into Canada this week. The World Cup starts on June 11 and the final is scheduled for July 19 with games in the US, Canada and Mexico. FIFA has announced it will pay an additional $100 million to the nations playing in the tournament to cover higher-than-expected costs. The governing body is expecting revenue of at least $11 billion for the tournament.
