Director of the Exit 8 movie, Genki Kawamura, has revealed that he changed his approach to the adaptation of the game by consulting Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto ten years ago. The film, which premiered at Cannes in 2025, imagines a new story where a young man is trapped in a subway passageway and is told to avoid any unexpected anomalies. The movie is now out in theaters in the US and the UK on April 24.
