Zachary Cook, a 14-year-old boy from Michigan, will receive a service dog after a $13K fundraiser was initiated by military veteran Shawn Wintermote. The dog, named Kobe, will be trained to alert Zachary and his family to seizures before they occur. Wintermot reached the goal of reaching the cost of the dog within three weeks. Zachary's dad, Greg, described the community effort as "amazing". The dog is currently undergoing training and will help Zachary with everyday tasks.
