The Wayne County Sheriff's Office is increasing its patrols to reduce speeding and distracted driving. The department is working with the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute to make roadways safer. As part of the Comprehensive Highway Injury Reduction Program, deputies will work overtime from April 4 to 13. The Hands-Free Law, which took effect in 2020, prohibits drivers from holding mobile devices while driving.
