Jesse Jackson Jr., the son of the late Rev. Jesse Jackson, lost a Democratic primary in the district he represented for 17 years. Jackson Jr. was sentenced to 30 months in prison in 2013 for conspiring to defraud his reelection campaign funds. He used roughly $750,000 in campaign funds for personal items and expenses, including high-end appliances and electronics such as Rolex watches and Michael Jackson memorabilia. Despite his attempts to make a comeback, Cook County Commissioner Donna Miller won with only 28.7% of the vote. The seat was left vacant by Democratic Illinois Rep. Robin Kelly.
