Daniel Pohl, a politically outspoken Czechoslovakia man, managed to escape the Iron Curtain by ziplating across the heavily guarded border into Austria. Despite numerous risks, including electric power lines, armed guards, and patrol dogs, the daring escape was successful. Pohl later moved on to the United States, where he settled in and wrote a book and worked as a taxi driver. His story shows that even the most oppressive systems cannot suppress the will to be free.
