Tesla has announced that its Model S and Model X production is over, with only about 600 remaining vehicles remaining in inventory worldwide. The company's CEO, Elon Musk, announced this news during a Q4 2025 earnings call and announced the end of custom orders for the vehicles. The decision was part of Tesla's shift to "autonomy" and the Fremont production line will be converted to manufacture Optimus humanoid robots instead. The Model S was Tesla’s first mass-market vehicle, launching in June 2012, and the Model X accounted for over 610,000 deliveries during their production runs. According to data from EV-CPO, Tesla currently has approximately 295 new Model S units and 301 new Model X units left in global inventory, nearly all of them in the United States. The remaining units come with free DC fast charging at Tesla Superchargers and free lifetime Premium Connectivity as incentives.
