The National Weather Service has warned that severe thunderstorms are possible in Northern Virginia as a powerful cold front moves through the state. The storm's main impacts will be rain, damaging winds, and large hail. The NWS has expanded the "Slight Risk" (level 2 out of 5) to include all of Northern Virginia and highlighted an elevated risk of tornadoes just west of the D.C. area. This will be followed by multiple temperature swings, with temperatures expected to drop 15- to 30-degrees on Thursday before warming again this weekend.
