Albuquerque police officers say a call from a mother to the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline may have prevented a mass shooting at a medical facility. The mother reported her son, Evan Michael Williamson, was armed, making threats, and heading towards the facility where he was receiving treatment for multiple conditions, including PTSD. The hotline alerted APD and officers were sent to locate Williamson, who was found with a handgun, two fully loaded magazines, and a knife. The medical facility involved has since implemented additional security measures, including active shooter drills. Williamson is currently not in custody and awaiting a competency evaluation before the case can proceed.
