Police Blotter: 18-year-old charged in Chelsea stabbing; Mass. Appeals Court affirms Brockton robber’s life sentence

An 18-year-old man has been arraigned on charges related to the stabbing death of 25-year old Eduardo Rosales López in Chelsea, Massachusetts. Jose Joel Umana Janes, who was identified through surveillance footage and is ordered held without bail. The alleged stabbing occurred on the evening of March 19. Another alleged attacker, Sergio Josue Castellanos Cerrato, was also arrested and previously arraigned for murder charges. The state Appeals Court has upheld Brian Vines' convictions for attacking a Brockton woman in 2013, affirming his life sentence.
