Alina Fernández Revuelta, one of Fidel Castro's own daughters, has been outspoken against the communist government in Cuba. Her documentary, Revolution's Daughter, premiered at the Miami Film Festival and explores her experiences as emigres who left Cuba behind. The film was produced and directed by Thaddeus D. Matula and produced by John Martinez O’Felan, Joe Lamy, Allen Gilmer, and Javier Gonzalez. The documentary also features fellow Cuban emigues, including singer Gloria Estefan, poet and art critic Ricardo Pau-Llosa, artist José Bedia, and the late scholar and artist Margarita Cano. The date for the documentary is crucial as Cuba's economy is in free fall, its electric grid is failing, and its government is facing off against President Trump.
