A number of House lawmakers, both Democrats and Republicans, are calling for Reps. Eric Swalwell (D-Calif.) and Tony Gonzales (R-Texas) to resign amid sexual assault and misconduct allegations. Florida Rep. Byron Donalds (R) called the allegations "despicable" and "demeaning" and said they demean the integrity of Congress. Rep. Pramila Jayapal also expressed her desire for an expulsion vote, stating that this is not a partisan issue and that we need to hold all parties accountable. The calls come days after two reports revealed sexual misconduct allegations against Swallwell. Gonzales has also been scrutinized for making sexual advances toward two staffers and previously dropped his 2026 reelection bid amid the scandal.
