France's Prime Minister, Sebastien Lecornu, has announced plans to double state support to increase the use of electricity as an energy source in the country by up to $11.72 billion annually through 2030. The measures include increasing the usage of electric vehicles and modernising heating in homes. The move is aimed at reducing dependence on imported energy to avoid future disruptions like those caused by the Iran-led war. LECornu also plans to replace 85 Terawatt-hours-worth of gas, or 20% of France's annual gas import bill, with domestic electricity by 2030.
