Medical experts are warning that spring break travel can lead to an increase in digestive health issues due to flying and shifting routines. Approximately 40% of people experience constipation while traveling, according to Dr. Trisha Pasricha, a GI doctor and Harvard Medical School professor, and a study conducted in the UK found that one in three people were embarrassed to discuss their digestive health with their doctors. In addition to constipation, there are also concerns about reflux and infections like the stomach flu during this time of year. Dehydration and sleep deprivation also contribute to digestive issues during flights. Pasrichas suggested that passengers pack their own water bottles and eat hydrating foods, such as melons, to maintain health while on the air.
