Mayor of Richland County village resigns amid voyeurism, assault charges

Wesley Dingus, the mayor of Butler, Ohio, has resigned amid allegations of voyeurism and vehicular assault. The Richland County Sheriff's Office is investigating allegations that Dingus violated the privacy of a teenager by rifling through her belongings when she was not present. The complaint was received from county children's services, who reported that Dingu was filmed on video picking up multiple pairs of underwear and smelling them. Dingus is also charged with aggravated assault, vehicle assault, falsification, and dereliction of duty. His resignation was announced in a handwritten letter by the Village of Butler.
