Wim Wenders presented Yakusho Koji with the Golden Mulberry Award for Lifetime Achievement at the 28th Far East Film Festival in Udine, Italy. Wenders described his collaboration on "Perfect Days" as an unconventional use of documentary discipline, which he applied to in real-life situations. Yakosho was cast as Tokyo toilet cleaner Hirayama in the 2023 Cannes prize-winner and Wenders credits him with inspiring him to overcome conventions of fiction filmmaking. The award is the highest at the festival and includes seven films personally approved of by Yakushoo.
