The Los Angeles Angels defeated the Houston Astros 3-0 in the season opener for both teams. Mike Trout homered, walked three times and stole a base, leading to the win. Jose Soriano also struck out seven over six innings, marking Los Angeles' first road victory on Opening Day since April 2013. The win was the 405th career home run for Trout, who was making his club-record 14th Opening Day start in center field. Nolan Schanuel also homered and Jo Adell reached base four times with a single, a walk and a hit by a pitch and scored a run. Houston's AJ Blubaugh was the losing pitcher, allowing one run on two hits over two 1/3 innings.
