Older Americans are likely to benefit from tax changes in President Donald Trump's "big beautiful bill," which went into effect for 2025. The Tax Foundation's senior economist, Alex Durante, noted that seniors and retirees are likely the ones likely to be benefiting from these changes. However, they must file their tax returns to determine if they qualify. Free tax services can be provided for older taxpayers, such as Volunteer Income Tax Assistance or Tax Counseling for the Elderly. The AARP Foundation's Tax-Aide will be open through Tax Day to provide free tax preparation services for filers ages 50 and older. The tax break may provide an average $670 increase in after-tax income per eligible senior. Older taxpayers may also be eligible for the longstanding senior deduction of $2,000 per individual or $3,200 per married couple.
