Man Accused Of Driving While Impaired In Crash That Killed His Girlfriend

Dakota J. Morand, a 31-year-old man from McHenry County, Wisconsin, is accused of driving while intoxicated in a collision that killed his girlfriend. The collision occurred around 4:20 p.m. on South Pine Street near Schaal Road in the town of Burlington when Morand's car drifted into oncoming traffic. A southbound SUV attempted to avoid the vehicle but collided head-on at highway speeds. The driver was seriously injured and transferred to Froedtert Hospital. Charges will be submitted to the Racine County District Attorney's Office regarding homicide by intoxicated use of a motor vehicle and operating while intoxicated causing great bodily harm.
