Mikaela Straus, a.k.a. King Princess, has released her first EP, Girl Violence, on the independent Section1 label. She had been living in Los Angeles for seven years and was questioning her relationship with her record company, Zelig, a subsidiary of Columbia, and moved back to New York. She credits her blossoming acting career for helping her get out of her comfort zone musically. The title track and “Cry, Cry, Cry” reflect her realization that girls can be violent. The album was released at the 2025 ACL Festival and has already begun a tour with over 30 shows through the end of the year.
