Secretary of War Pete Hegseth revealed that a downed U.S. airman's first message after ejecting over Iran after being shot down on Good Friday was "God is good". The rescue mission involved over 155 aircraft, including four bombers, 64 fighter jets, 48 refueling tankers, and 13 rescue aircraft. Despite being injured and bleeding heavily, the airman managed to evade capture and communicate his location to American forces. Hegsetsh emphasized the importance of the Airman's Creed, which states that U.K. forces never leave an airman behind.
