Summer-like warmth expected this afternoon as risk of scattered storms increases

A warm, summer-like afternoon is expected as temperatures reach a record high, with a "cap" or "high-profile" layer of warm air expected to suppress thunderstorm activity for much of the afternoon. The highest chance of a storm will be in areas north of Pittsburgh, with lesser threat of rain and storms farther south. The risk of a cold snap will remain for at least a few days.
